The questions most people ask.
And a few I'd ask if I were on your side of the screen. If your question isn't here, the consult call is the right place for it.
Practical
What happens in inclement weather?
In light rain, we’ll still walk — bring a hood or umbrella. Keep an eye on your email and I’ll reach out if we need to reschedule.
What should I wear?
Whatever you'd wear for an hour-long neighbourhood walk. Layers in the colder seasons, comfy shoes, and bring water if you like. We're not hiking or running a marathon. The most important thing is that you’re comfortable.
How much does it cost?
$175 for a one-hour session. Most extended health coverage plans cover services by an RSW, and I will direct bill or provide a receipt you can submit. The 15-minute consult is free.
Additional 30 minute and hour long time add ons: Many clients find that longer Walk & Talk sessions — 1.5 to 2 hours — are especially beneficial. Sometimes a client books a single session and asks to extend at the end. When my schedule allows it (i.e., I don't have another session booked right after), I offer that extra 30 minutes at a reduced rate of $65, bringing a 1.5-hour session to $240. Adding an additional hour is $100, bringing a 2-hour session to $275.
Do you take insurance directly?
I can direct bill most insurers through TELUS eClaims. If your insurer isn’t registered, I will provide a receipt for reimbursement.
Clinical
Who is this not for?
Walking sessions probably aren't the right first step if you're working through anything that needs a quiet, contained room. We can talk about it on the consult and I'll be honest if I think a different setting will serve you better.
Will we run into people you know?
It happens occasionally! Toronto is large, and its public spaces are popular. We'll cover what to do at the start: typically a brief, unbothered hello and we keep walking. You don't have to explain anything.
Logistics
Where do we meet?
I have two default meeting points:
- For the Mt. Pleasant route, we will meet at the cemetery entrance on the east side of Yonge just north of St. Clair.
- For the PATH route, we will meet outside Sephora in the Union Station concourse, just south of the TTC subway entrance.
How often do we meet?
That’s up to you. Most clients start weekly. There's no minimum commitment, and you can stop whenever the work feels complete or you’re ready for a break.
